BE AWARE OF CROSS CONTAMINATION: ALWAYS WEAR GLOVES!
DIRTY AREA
* Always unpack in the Dirty Area
* Remove lab sheet & stamp date
* Insert enclosures .g. Imps, models, bites etc.
* Check for date. If no date, attach “See Mark / Keith for Date” label
* For work that is to be posted, amend finish date to 2 working days before original date
* For work that is to be delivered on by hand, amend finish date to 1 working day before original date with the name of the delivery run (north, south, local)
* If the dentist supplies their own box container, attach a sign that states “There is a box with this case”
* Fill in quantity of items received e.g. bites, models using SBO lab sheet and sign in the allocated box.
* If dentists use their own lab sheet then it is to be photocopied onto the blank side of a “Duplicate Lab Sheet” and fill in the details on the other side.
STERILISATION
* Remove items from package and place the items of each casework in a Dirty Box
* Sterilise all items that have been in contact with the patient (sterile solution: 10:1 water / bleach) for 10 minutes
* Dispose of waste such as tissues and bags
CLEAN AREA
* Place sterilised items in clean grey trays. Red trays are to be used for Premier clients
* After completing all tasks, clean Dirty Area such as the surfaces using a bleach solution
VERY IMPORTANT!
* Always wear gloves
* Never put unsterilised items in a clean area
* Always clean the Dirty Area after use
* Be aware of cross contamination at all times – For your safety and the safety of the dental team and patients
